Tactical Training Group Pacific, Junior Enlisted Association

To promote comaraderie and morale throughout the junior enlisted assigned to TTGP, San Diego

July 14th, 2009

Well, it has been a great run, I am proud to of been apart of this with all of you.  I wish I had some great parting words for all of you but, I don't?!?  I am not going anywhere, still going to continue to push for the betterment of all junior enlisted - but now before behind the scenes.  Please take a moment to welcome in your new council.

March 24th, 2009

Come join us for our first luncheon on March 25th at 1100 on the BLDG 58 Patio.  Free food and refreshments will be provided coupled with great companionship and camaraderie.

"BY OUR OWN - FOR OUR OWN"

March 1st, 2009

Our first challenge has arouse.  The way we do business is now being questioned by some of the senior enlisted members of the command.  You have chosen to run your JEA without charging dues, this has challenged the way our parent command has always done business.  If you like the way your JEA is being run then you need to tell someone, oh, and find some type of Navy instruction/admin/sorm/sorn entry that says that we are able to operate in this fashion.

On March 25th, our next meeting date, I have been assured that a representative from the senior enlisted will be there to talk to you about the advantages of charging dues to our members.  Whatever your decision is, I will stand firmly behind you...that, I believe, is why you elected me.  Make sure your voices are being heard!

Feburary 10th, 2009

Well, it’s been a slow start to this New Year.  Lots of plans, though.  We have the packages for the junior IA's ready to be sent out, and the little week-week fundraisers have been coming together (although we really missed out not doing the sale during the FST).  I would like to see us step up the efforts with regards to our community involvement...I know there are a lot of you out there doing your part, please, if you haven't already, send your info so I can keep up our records (on that note, I have heard that Meals on Wheels might need a couple extra hands - contact OS2 Bailey or OS2 Wallace if interested).

We are, unfortunately, still fighting with raising funds so there is nothing we can do this Valentines Day.  I can point you out to a phenomenal florist, Rubina (Ruby) runs a little shop up on Adams Ave.  Just let here know that I sent you and she will hook you up (I don't know about any deals yet, although she will help you with whatever your situation).  Along those lines, I'd like to take a second to thank Maggie over at the Point Loma Wells Fargo on Rosecrans...she is really taking care of us by eliminating our fees and providing our Treasurer what he needs to keep up the books.

December 15th, 2008

Welcome to the newest edition to your JEA…the Internet.  I will try to not waste your time with this space I have reserved, what I want to do with it is to keep all of you informed with what we are doing and to give our surrounding community access to who we are and how we can help them, as well as, among other things, keep me from spamming your email so much.

Congratulations to our new JSOQ and JSOY, YN2 Bragg and FC2 Bennett (check out there bios).  It is always great to see people get credit for their hard work, I know that they had stiff competition – in fact, I am sure that there is about 56 other junior sailors, attached to our command, that have / can / and will continue to give them a run for their money.  I want to see everyone get the credit that they deserve.  There is so much that this JEA can do for our community / for our families / for each other / for our own morale that our evals can’t help not getting involved.  Remember, your eval will reflect only what your supervisors, and the command, see you...only in a mirror can you see who you really are and what you can become.  As for how I see you and my style of leadership, I refer that back to Paul (Bear) Bryant, Alabama’s former head football coach, on something he said to a reporter who asked him about how he motivates his guys, “If any thing goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, we did it. If anything goes really good, then you did it.”

So, what are we doing right now?  Well, the pizza sales this month are going towards small care packages to deployed sailors for the holidays.  The dinners that we plan on doing for the upcoming FST will go toward putting money aside for paying back the MWR (they did loan us 200 to help us get started) and for throwing a little party for us.  Food, drink and fellowship will be provided – all that we need is support to make these food sales a success.  On that note, I want to end this with a few words from one of my favorite Christmas movies.  Until next time, I hope all of you have a great Holiday, whichever one you choose to celebrate, be safe and I will see you all next year.

Lucy to Linus (who is contentedly watching a TV show): "Change the channel!"
Linus: "Do what?"
Lucy: "CHANGE THE CHANNEL!!"
Linus: "What makes you think I should just respond like that?"
Lucy: (showing her hand) "You see this? These are just 5 little weak fingers. But when they are rolled together into something called a fist they become a weapon that is formidable to behold."
Linus: (after contemplating Lucy's fist, changing the channel and then looking at his own little fingers) "Why can't you guys get organized like that?"
